Born in 1968 in Sidney Australia artist Jacob Cooley has received numerous awards and reviews of his work are included in major publications. His paintings are collected nationally by museums, corporations, and private collectors. Jacob received an MFA in painting from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1993. He graduated in 1990 with a BFA from the University of Georgia, Athens. The artist studied at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio from 1986-1988. "What Cooley gives you is not detail but more closeted visual information that asks you to seek it out, just as you might in appreciating an actual landscape--just as we rarely do, flying by the lanscape as we usually do. . . the moods captured or reconstituted on canvus, a sort of insipient spirituality that we can invest in the land or pull from it when we really see.
