Pierre Bonnard said “Few people know how to see, to see well, to see fully.” Paul Grand recognizes that seeing fully is half of his job. The remainder is to see distinctively, even idiosyncratically. He is an art photographer shooting architecture, portraits, landscapes and abstractions and has created portfolios around the world.

His style is painterly. At times, the images are sculptural and even a bit theatrical. He avoids the big picture and focuses instead on the telling detail. His interest lies in the smaller mosaics yielding sharper, clearer images and understandings. The core details are seminal because he believes that the component parts are greater than their summation into the whole. The details of his subjects exhibit wonderful combinations of shapes, objects, colors and texture, scarcely suspected on casual observation.

He is represented in significant collections around the world including that of the king of Morocco. He has been selected as the first photographer for a solo show at the Trenton Museum. It is scheduled for September 2009. He has had four major solo shows and participated in seven group shows during these past two years. During this time, he received three awards for entries in juried shows. He has been featured in Outside magazine, Time Out New York and on Fox news and National Public Radio.
