"Striving for a unified state of feeling and deepening intensity of overall mood, I aim to have each painting be a sublime expression - a place where the mind can freely wander." -- Gail Bessette
Gail Bessette's paintings are more about the conjuring of mood than actual location. She says her landscapes are never about an isolated place or specific time of a day, but rather about a particular feeling, a sense that is initiated by a scene ( one that is remembered instead of closely observed).
Gail is a Copley Master and a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, Pastel Society of the West Coast, National Pastel Society, and National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society. She has been the recipient of over 70 awards for her still life and landscape pastels and oils.
