F. Ron Fowler

F. Ronald Fowler, known for working with a multiplicity of subject matter concurrently, continues to live up to his reputation as "a man for all media" (as one critic has noted).

Graduating from Pratt Institute in New York City, Fowler began his career as a book illustrator with figurative work for several major publishers, with over 30 books and book jackets to his credit. He has also produced limited edition and special event posters. including those of the Provincetown Carnival Commemorative Series, a New Orleans Mardi Gras poster and 25 theatrical posters. He continues his figure work with a yearly exhibition.

In the early eighties, Fowler visited Provincetown and never went home! As so many artists before him, Fowler was inspired by the light and landscape of Cape Cod and he began to explore the possibilities of realist landscape in oil and pen and ink.

Fowler also continues to produce his "visually appealing...delicate allusive" (New York Times) color-based abstractions which are, inevitably, informed by the beautiful landscape of the area.

After years of exhibiting his wide range of work across the country and at other Provincetown galleries, he opened the doors of his own gallery in 1997 - an intimate space in the East End gallery district where the many different facets of his work may be seen year-round.
