A nationally-known and award winning artist from Philadelphia, PA, Chris Nissen is primarily know for his landscape painting of the Eastern United States. His style has been described as "painterly realism" and his works are usually classically composed, yet highly charged with spontaneity and energy. Over the years he has developed a method of intermingling sessions of plein air painting with periods of intense studio work in order to capture the right balance between atmosphere and technique. With their powerful compositions, strong pure colors, and sensuous lush surfaces, his painting hang in over 90 corporate collections, a number of major museums, and in over 245 private collections around the world. Nissen graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1980 and has been painting continuously since then.
